BMT Asset Performance operate a bursary scheme for University of Portsmouth engineering graduates.

Bursary Scheme

Our Bursary Scheme was established in 2013 in memory of one of our colleagues, Katie Wildman. The bursary operates in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth, and offers paid work experience to an undergraduate engineering student.

What is the scheme?
The BMT Asset Performance Bursary Scheme was established in 2013 in memory of one of our colleagues, Katie Wildman.

Katie was a talented, positive and passionate member of our team who was committed to the success of the company and to making what we do count. Katie was a Chartered Engineer by qualification, and her time both in and outside of work was often spent coaching, mentoring and encouraging young people with an interest in the field of engineering. Katie sadly passed away in July 2013 after a brave fight against cancer. During the Company Away Day in April 2014, the team voted for a bursary scheme to be established in Katie’s name as a fitting memorial. The Katie Wildman Engineering Bursary Scheme is intended to be a lasting legacy of a much-missed member of the BMT family.

What are the benefits?
The bursary operates in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth, where Katie graduated from, and provides the opportunity for a promising undergraduate engineering student to gain valuable paid work experience over the summer holiday period, along with a cash sum of £2000 to support their final year of study. In addition, the bursary also includes a contribution to the University of Portsmouth Engineering Department. BMT benefits from closer ties with the University, a strong academic centre of engineering in the UK, a chance to support the engineering profession, and opportunities for the recruitment of promising engineering talent. Since its inception, the bursary has grown to include the following:

  • Support to University of Portsmouth Mock Interview Days
  • Support to University of Portsmouth CV Reviewing Days
  • Attendance at the University of Portsmouth Career Fairs
  • Sponsorship of a Graduation Ceremony Award
  • Invitation for BMT Asset Performance to become board member of the University of Portsmouth Industrial Advisory Board

Who is it aimed at?
The bursary is aimed towards University of Portsmouth Engineering students who are completing their second year. A comprehensive selection process is undertaken each year with potential candidates invited to submit CVs followed by an interview with BMT Asset Performance staff.
